The final seminar for the discussion of my dissertation on sensemaking in international business environment will be held on the 8th of June. Professor Ulf Andersson from Mälardalen University College and BI Norwegian Business School will act as the discussant.
My dissertation is an account of how Swedish business leaders perceive and interpret the growth of the so-called emerging markets and the resulting changes in their business environment over a period of 25 years. It is a work based in the theoretical stream of sensemaking, which deals with social cognition. The dissertation builds on several empirical studies employing both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis.
The dissertation is an effect of the research I conducted at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University, and Saïd Business School, the University of Oxford. It is written under the supervision of Associate Professor Katarina Blomkvist, Professor Ivo Zander, and Associate Professor Philip Kappen. The research project was funded by Handelsbanken's Research Foundations, grant n° P2012-0040:1.
